Nico Marquardt is a German author, painter, sculptor and photographer. He is the author of the bestselling novel "Im Schatten der großen Männer" ("In Shadow of the Great Men"), which has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide since its release in 2004. The book tells the story of "Lebensborn", an SS-assisted program for the birth control of 'racially valuable' children. Marquardt created his own Lebensborn system in 2006, called "LeBensborn e.V." (translated: Life-Giving Organization).
